WASHINGTON: The United States has denounced the deadly explosion that killed three people, including two Chinese citizens near Karachi airport.
Late on Sunday night, a massive explosion took place on a road near the Airport, killing a total of three people and injuring at least 11 others, including a Chinese national.
“We denounce the deadly attack near Karachi’s airport and we are deeply saddened by the reported loss of life and injured victims,” State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller stated while addressing a news briefing in Washington. He said that they extended their heartfelt condolences to those impacted.
Earlier, the United Nations denounced the terrorist attack near Karachi’s International Airport. “We denounce this act of terror that we saw in Pakistan,” the UN chief’s Spokesperson, Stephane Dujarric, said in response to a question at the regular briefing at UN Headquarters in New York.
“Civilian population should never ever be the targets and we extend our condolences to the families of the victims and to the people and governments of both Pakistan and China,” Dujarric said on behalf of the UN Secretary General.
Pakistan strongly condemned the heinous terrorist attack near Karachi airport last night, Pakistan’ Foreign Office said in a statement on Monday. The statement said, “We extend our deepest condolences and sympathies to the families of the victims, both Chinese and Pakistani, and offer prayers for the swift recovery of the injured,”.
It added that this deplorable act of terrorism is an assault not only on Pakistan but also on the enduring friendship between China and Pakistan. The statement maintained, “We remain resolute in bringing to justice those responsible for this cowardly attack, including the Majeed Brigade,”.
The statement said that Pakistan’s security and law enforcement agencies would spare no effort in apprehending the perpetrators and their facilitators. It added that this barbaric act will not go unpunished.
