Pakistan’s President Reaffirms Commitment to Eco-Friendly Transport

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to developing a safe, sustainable, efficient, and environmentally friendly transportation system.

Speaking via video link at the Global Sustainable Transport Forum 2024 in Beijing, he emphasized that Pakistan would collaborate closely with China to achieve sustainable development goals, which would lead to an era of peace and prosperity.

During his address, the President highlighted Pakistan’s introduction of pink buses designed specifically for women, aimed at providing a safe, comfortable, and accessible mode of public transportation.

He also noted that rural access to all-weather roads in Pakistan has improved significantly, now reaching 92%. This enhanced accessibility is expected to promote sustainable development and improve the delivery of essential services to the rural population.
