Chinese, Saudi Agencies Renew Technical Cooperation Program

RIYADH: On the sidelines of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) and the Chinese Standardization Administration (SAC) renewed their agreement to sign a technical cooperation program in the area of standardization activities.

Program 12

Program objectives

The program’s objectives are to increase the strategic partnership between the two nations, contribute to ensuring the quality and safety of products, limit the entry of fake and adulterated products into the Kingdom’s markets, assist in removing trade barriers and technical challenges, and support and facilitate trade exchange.

Program 13

In addition to knowledge transfer and technical capacity building, the initiative aims to establish frameworks for joint cooperation in a number of areas, most notably the exchange of experiences, information, and research studies in various fields of standardization, and to improve coordination and mutual support in related international and bilateral activities.

Program 14

This initiative fits within the parameters of the general agreement for economic and commercial cooperation that the two nations have signed, and it is consistent with their vision to raise their international standing and use resources available in both nations to advance shared goals. – APP
