TEHRAN: In a new escalation of violence, the United States and the United Kingdom conducted airstrikes on Houthis in Yemen on Friday.

According to local media reports, American and British warplanes targeted Taiz province with two separate bombings in the afternoon.

There are no immediate reports regarding casualties or damage from the strikes.

Yemen’s Houthis openly supported Palestine in its conflict with Israel, particularly following the Israeli military’s assault on Gaza that began on October 7. This assault was in response to a surprise attack by Palestinian Resistance movements, known as Operation Al-Aqsa Storm.

Yemeni Houthis have vowed to continue their attacks in Red Sea until the Israeli ground and aerial offensives in Gaza cease. The Israeli’s war on Gaza has so far left over 40,000 Palestinians- mostly women and children- dead.

In December, the US and UK formed a military coalition aimed at supporting Israel and targeting Houthis Yemen.
