Armed Clash Between Two Bugti Groups Leaves 5 Dead in Karachi

KARACHI: At least five people were killed and two others wounded during an armed clash between two groups, both from the Bugti tribe, over an old enmity in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority on Thursday night, local media reported.

DIG South Zone Assad Raza told the media that two groups of Bugti tribe traded fire over old enmity in Khayaban-e-Nishat, Defence. He added that as a result of the clash, 5 people lost their lives whereas four sustained injuries. The police officer said that tree people from one side and two from the other group were killed during the exchange of firing.

Those killed in the clash were identified as Nakibullah, Fahad Bugti, Mir Esah, Ali, and Mir Mehsam. The wounded were shifted to Jinnah Hospital, according to media reports.

Police rushed to the crime scene and started an investigation and cordoned off the area after the clash in the area.

Meanwhile, Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar also took serious notice of the clash and sought a detailed report from the police.  The Minister said that the incident was a result of a personal enmity, saying that the deceased and the wounded people belonged to same tribe.

The Minister confirmed that both groups belong to the family of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti. Lanjar stated that no one is above the law, saying that all necessary steps will be taken to ensure the writ of law.
