LAHORE: The Lahore police have apprehended a woman PTI activist who attacked renowned stage actor Tahir Anjum in front of the Punjab Assembly and tore off his clothes.
The local officials registered a case against the activist and her unknown accomplices on the complaint of Tahir Anjum after the assault. Police arrested Aneela Riaz for allegedly committing the act against the actor.
The incident took place on Wednesday when Anjum was passing by the hunger strike camp of the PTI outside the Punjab Assembly, the FIR said. According to media reports, Aneela Riaz, who was participating in the protest of PTI, attacked Anjum, allegedly due to his actions related to PTI founder. She claimed the actor was making footage of her party protest camp. Tahir Anjum, was violently beaten up by Aneela Riaz, who also tore his clothes during the quarrel.
On Wednesday, Anjum has confirmed the attack in a conversation with media, saying that he was assaulted while passing by the PTI camp. He said that he planned to consult with the leadership of his party before deciding on any further actions against the attacker.
