PDMA Launches Flood Early Warning System for Public Safety

LAHORE: PDMA has launched flood early warning system, enabling timely alerts and evacuations across Punjab. In a statement, director Provincial Disaster Management Authority Punjab Hameed Ullah Malik expressed satisfaction towards bolstering public safety during floods.

He stated that the innovative system has already started yielding positive results, thanks to a participatory approach that empowers people to take ownership of disaster response efforts. He said that by harnessing the power of technology as well as community engagement, they are revolutionizing flood management to save more and more lives. He said that the Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a flood warning for the various mountainous areas of DG Khan.

Responding to a question, he said that a joint monitoring system is being updated as well as synchronized with all related departments to efficiently address the damages of floods in the province. He was of the view that this collaborative effort aims to enhance the response and mitigation steps, ensuring a swift and coordinated approach to reduce the impact of flooding.
