Pakistan’s Minister Meets with Tajik Businessmen to Boost Bilateral Trade

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Privatization Minister Abdul Aleem Khan held a meeting on Thursday with notable businessmen from Tajikistan to explore avenues for bolstering bilateral trade and investment cooperation.

Representatives from ten major business entities such as textiles, pharmaceuticals, construction, IT, banking, and aviation, attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the investors exhibited a strong inclination towards establishing a goods terminal for streamlined import and export operations near the Pakistan-Tajikistan border, as per a press release.

The minister reassured comprehensive support and facilitation for fostering business-to-business engagements, affirming that all economic sectors remain accessible to entrepreneurs from Central Asia. He underscored Pakistan’s potential as a significant agricultural and trade market.

Highlighting the readiness of Pakistan’s private sector for international trade, he outlined governmental plans to incentivize foreign investments, particularly in free economic zones, and other targeted areas to spur industrial growth domestically.

Expressing optimism, Abdul Aleem Khan anticipated a surge in bilateral trade between Pakistan and Tajikistan through increased interaction among trade and business delegations, alongside strengthened people-to-people and government-to-government ties.

The Tajikistani business groups expressed enthusiastic interest in exploring investment opportunities across various sectors of Pakistan’s economy, aiming to deepen trade and investment ties between the two nations.
