ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed strong condemnation on Thursday for the “shocking” attack on his Slovak counterpart, Robert Fico.
“I strongly condemn the shocking attack on Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. We extend our prayers and thoughts to him and his family. Wishing him a quick recovery and good health,” the prime minister posted on his social media timeline.
Media reports indicate that Robert Fico was critically injured in an assassination attempt, having been shot multiple times by a gunman on Wednesday. He underwent several hours of emergency surgery.
“We stand by the government and people of the Slovak Republic in these critical moments,” the prime minister stated.
