ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated the newly-elected members of national and provincial assemblies in the by-polls held on Sunday, local media reported.
In a statement, the PM said the win of the newly-elected members of PML-N was reflection of trust of people in the leadership of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.
He thanked the people for voting for Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and assured that every effort would be made to serve the citizens of Pakistan, saying, “We will try to come to expectations of the people with complete sincerity and hard work.”
He stated that the public opinion was changing prominently with the clear sign of economic improvement. The success of the candidates of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz was recognition of the revival of the economy, decline in inflation and improvement in foreign affairs by the government, he remarked.
He said the forecasts of the global financial institutions, surveys and news organizations regarding economic improvement had a positive effect on the people of the country. Following February 8 polls, the non-political attitude of the opposition had disappointed their people and supporters, he said.
The PM said win and loss was part of the electoral process and adoption of political cooperation instead of levelling accusation was democratic behaviour.
He stated that the weaknesses in the electoral process and objections could be removed only with mutual cooperation and political dialogue.
