MUZAFFARABAD: In a show of solidarity against continued Indian aggression in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) valley, a protest rally was organized in Muzaffarabad, the capital city of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, on Tuesday.

According to Kashmir Media Service (KMS), the rally, led by Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, commenced at the Central Press Club and concluded at Gharipan Chowk in Muzaffarabad. The event saw participation from Pasban-e-Hurriyat chairman Uzair Ahmad Ghazali, District president Jamaat-e-Islami Raja Mohammad Aftab Khan, central leader of PPP Shaukat Javed Mir, along with a large number of post-1989 refugees and citizens.

Protesters, brandishing black flags, vehemently voiced slogans against the illegal Indian occupation of Jammu and Kashmir, advocating for the territory’s freedom from Indian control. Banners condemning India’s unlawful actions on August 5, 2019, were prominently displayed during the rally.

Addressing the gathering, speakers condemned the Modi-led Indian government’s unilateral decision to revoke IIOJK’s special status, stressing that such actions blatantly violated United Nations Security Council resolutions.

They said that New Delhi had no authority to alter the internationally recognized disputed status of the territory, asserting India’s role as an aggressor in IIOJK.

Despite India’s coercive measures since August 5, 2019, the speakers noted the resilience and determination of the Kashmiri people in their struggle for freedom. They criticized India’s oppressive policies aimed at undermining Kashmiris’ identity, culture, and rights, portraying the Modi regime as oppressive and imperialistic.

Furthermore, speakers lamented the severe restrictions on freedom of expression imposed by the Indian government in Kashmir, condemning the suppression of religious and freedom-loving organizations. However, they reiterated the unwavering resolve of Kashmiris to resist Indian occupation until the attainment of their inalienable right to self-determination.

The speakers called upon the United Nations to intervene and facilitate the resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with its resolutions. Additionally, they paid homage to those who sacrificed their lives in the pursuit of freedom for Kashmir.
