Pakistan’s PM Directs Action Against Illegal Activities, Criminal Mafias

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday chaired a meeting on measures against Spectrum of Illegal activities. 

The meeting was attended by members of the Federal Cabinet, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, Chief Ministers, and senior government officials.

The agenda of the meeting was “Measures against Spectrum of illegal activities & Criminal Mafias”. The participants of the meeting were briefed on the steps taken against a wide range of illegal activities including smuggling, hoarding, money laundering, power theft, and repatriation of illegal foreigners. against criminal mafias and their negative impact on the economy and the well-being of Pakistan’s citizens.

The participants acknowledged the significance of these actions and their positive effects on the country’s economy and its people. They expressed a strong determination to take decisive action against smugglers, hoarders, and market manipulators to provide immediate relief to the general public and improve the economic trajectory.

During the meeting, agreements were approved among the Federal and Provincial governments regarding an Anti-Power Theft policy, the restructuring of Power Distribution Companies along modern lines, and the installation of Smart meters for the complete eradication of Power Theft. Strict measures were also ordered against corrupt officials.

The Chief of the Army Staff affirmed the Pakistan Army’s steadfast commitment to supporting the government’s initiatives aimed at economic recovery.

In the end, the Prime Minister directed all stakeholders to actively pursue various initiatives against illegal activities and criminal mafias to ensure their successful implementation within the specified timeframe.
