ISLAMABAD: The scrutiny of nomination papers for forty-eight vacant seats of the Senate will take place on Tuesday.
The revised list of candidates contesting for these seats will be issued on March 26. Candidates can withdraw their nomination papers until March 27.
In Islamabad, members of the National Assembly (NA) will exercise their voting rights to elect Senate members, including one for a general seat and one for technocrats, including ulema.
Members of Provincial Assemblies’ Role in Senate Elections
Meanwhile, members of the 4 provincial assemblies will play an important role in determining the Senate composition. They will elect senators for 7 general seats, 2 women seats, and 2 seats designated for technocrats, including ulema, from each province.
Moreover, one seat each for minorities from both Sindh and Punjab provinces will be filled.
