ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) lawmaker Omar Ayub Khan demanded the immediate release of political prisoners affiliated with his party, calling for justice and transparency in various incidents.

In his address to the National Assembly on Sunday, Omar Ayub, who lost the election for the position of Prime Minister to Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) candidate Shehbaz Sharif, criticized the government led by Shehbaz Sharif, labeling it as a continuation of the former Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) regime. He highlighted alleged discrimination faced by PTI during the elections, including the refusal to reserve seats.

Omar Ayub Demands Judicial Inquiry into May 9 Violence

Referring to the May 9 incident, Omar Ayub emphasized the need for an impartial judicial inquiry into the May 9 incidents. He also addressed the cypher case, dismissing it as lacking substance and questioning the role of PTI’s founder Imran Khan in the matter.

Accusing the ruling alliance of adopting dual standards, Omar Ayub raised concerns about alleged violations of laws, including the provision of special facilities to certain persons at the airport.

Amidst disruptions from lawmakers of the ruling alliance, Omar Ayub pressed for a live telecast of his speech and demanded accountability for past incidents of violence against PTI supporters.

Ayub further called for the release of PTI’s leadership, including former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi. He reiterated demands for an independent inquiry into the May 9 violence and denounced what he perceived as a campaign of fear against PTI.
