Pakistan Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed visits Moscow

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed on invitation of the United Russia Party visited Moscow to attend the Constituent Meeting of the Forum of Supporters of the Struggle Against Modern Neocolonialism Practices for the Freedom of Nations.

During his stay, Mushahid Hussain participated in panel discussions, including a tete-a-tete with Dmitry Medvedev, the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Global Forum against Neo-Colonialism and for Freedom of Nations, and delivered a lecture at the Russian Diplomatic Academy on “Pakistan and the Changing Regional Scenario.”

Senator Hussain emphasized the burgeoning relations between Pakistan and Russia, particularly in energy, connectivity, regional security (including Afghanistan), and cooperation in multilateral fora such as the SCO and UN. He also commended President Putin’s stance on Islamophobia. The lecture was followed by an interactive session with students, attended by Senator Chizhov of the Russian Federation Council.

Moreover, Senator Mushahid Hussain held discussions with the Rector of the Diplomatic Academy, focusing on emerging global political trends and bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Russia. The discussions proved fruitful, aligning on various mutual interests.

Overall, Senator Mushahid Hussain’s visit to Moscow was deemed successful, contributing significantly to strengthening Pakistan-Russia relations through engagements with Russian leadership and intellectuals.
