ISLAMABAD: Islamabad has launched a specific campaign to target people who violate traffic laws, such as motorcyclists who ride without a helmet, overloaded passengers, and people who don’t have number plates on their vehicles.

Over the past 24 hours, teams from the Islamabad Capital Police have taken legal measures against 259 motorcyclists found riding without helmets, impounding 53 motorcycles across various police stations.

Furthermore, 25 motorcycles lacking proper number plates faced legal consequences, with 21 impounded across various police stations.

Sarfraz Virk, Chief Traffic Officer (CEO) of Islamabad, stressed the federal capital’s ongoing special initiative is to ensure strict compliance with traffic laws.

Citizens are urged to adhere to city traffic regulations, emphasizing wearing helmets while riding motorcycles and using number plates issued by the Excise and Taxation Department. —APP
