RIO DE JANERIO: US singer Taylor Swift has postponed her music show in Rio de Janeiro due to extreme heat, the day following the death of a fan who fell ill in the sweltering concert site, Western media reported on Saturday.
“The decision has been taken to postpone music show due to the extreme heat in Rio,” Swift wrote on her social media account about two hours before she was to perform. “The well-being and safety of my fellow performers, crew and fans has to, and always will, come first.”

Ana Clara Benevides, became unwell at Nilton Santos stadium during a show, an event organizer wrote on social media. She died later in nearby hospital. Rio’s state health service said in a statement that her cause of death will be investigated.
The city on Friday hit a record high of the index, which combines humidity and temperature, at 59.3 degrees Celsius.

Around 60,000 fans had gathered on Friday for Swift’s concert at the open-air stadium, Reuters reported.
In the wake of fan’s death, the court announced that the government would issue an order allowing water bottles to be brought into show. As news spread of the music show’s postponement, many fans burst into tears.
