According to the SPA, delivering a speech at the meeting, Ambassador Abdulmohsen highlighted that the convention is an integral part of the global humanitarian law, which keeps balance between humanitarian concerns and military necessity, and the envoy called on member nations to respect and abide by global humanitarian law and the convention.

The Ambassador also underscored the significance of the annual compliance reports as tools to build integrity, trust, and cooperation, indicating that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is submitting its national reports on a regular basis, the SPA maintained.

The envoy cited escalation in the Gaza Strip and its surroundings and the increased random assaults against civilian population and infrastructure using arms prohibited under the convention, and he called on the world to intervene and take a decisive stance towards the violations against the brotherly Palestinian people that contradict global law, international humanitarian law, and UN conventions, including the Convention on Prohibitions on the Use of Certain Conventional Weapons, the SPA stated.

According to the SPA, the Ambassador said that the double standards and selectivity in applying global law and conventions will have negative consequences on global peace and security.

The envoy condemned statements by an Israeli minister to drop a nuclear bomb on the Gaza Strip, voicing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s (KSA) rejection of the targeting of civilians and the forced displacement of the Palestinian people, the SPA further said.
