ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) has made notable achievements in the tourism industry and its promotion by marketing country’s natural landscape, culture, history, and archeological sites.
A PTDC official said that the corporation was working effectively according to the vision to develop the tourism industry as a national priority in a sustainable manner, taking full advantage of regional and global trends and developments.
He said the PTDC is projecting Pakistan as a tourist friendly destination, bringing the country amongst top 5 tourist destinations of Asia.
It is successfully marketing the tourist places at home and abroad through tourism exhibitions and shows to generate revenue. Tourism sector is greatly contributing to national exchequer as well, he maintained.
Private sector encouraged to promote tourism in Pakistan
The official said that PTDC is to act as a catalyst in encouraging the private sector to play active role in the promotion and development of tourism. It was developing services and infrastructure to facilitate the visitors.
He said it has already established Tourist Information Centers at various airports to provide accurate information to local and foreign tourists.
The official said that Minister of State for Tourism, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Youth Affairs Wasi Shah had unveiled that Tourist Information Centers would set up at Gawdar International Airport to facilitate tourists.
He said that PTDC with collaboration of the Capital Development Authority has kicked off an effective cleanliness drive at various parks in Islamabad to ensure neat and clean environment to attract large number of visitors in a healthy ambience.
