MIRPUR: Attique Ahmed Khan, ex-prime minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and president of the Muslim Conference, on Wednesday extended his warm felicitations to the brave people of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) on their 76th Independence Day.

It was on this day 76 years ago that the people of GB achieved their self-fought independence from the Dogra autocracy.

In his congratulatory message, Sardar Attique said that the independence of AJK and GB is partial; we have to struggle together to oust illegal occupying Indian forces from the rest of the Jammu and Kashmir state. There shall be no let-up in the continuing struggle. Horrendous atrocities being inflicted on our brethren in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) are, in fact deep wounds on our hearts and minds.

Commitment for independence

He said that we have to free the people of IIOJK from Indian subjugation, and it is our commitment to history.

He paid tributes to the people, government, and institutions of Pakistan for resolutely supporting the struggling people of Kashmir in their sustained struggle. Atiq wished greater progress and prosperity to the people of Gilgit Baltistan.
