As per media reports, two resolutions separately suggested by Russia and the US on the current Israel-Palestine conflict failed to approve Wednesday in the UNSC.

Russia’s resolution, which demanded a cease-fire, was voted down in the UNSC Council following failing to get enough support and votes. The resolution received 4 votes in favor, 2 votes against and nine abstentions. The UK and the US voted no.

Russia’s United Nations envoy Vassily Nebenzia said Moscow regretted that the UNSC could not utilize another opportunity to reply to the “unprecedented crisis” in Gaza.

The UNSC also voted for the US resolution, which demanded humanitarian pauses in Gaza, denounced the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas in Israel and called for the release of all hostages” held by Hamas. The resolution got ten votes in favor, with China, Russia, and the UEA voting against it.

The UNSC vetoed 4 resolutions about the situation in Israel-Palestine within ten days. Last week, two resolutions suggested by Russia and Brazil were rejected.
