ISLAMABAD: Disappointment rippled through the Pakistani cricket community and fans as Afghanistan secured their maiden World Cup victory against Pakistan, defeating the Men In Green by eight wickets in a thrilling match at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 held at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Monday.

Chasing a target of 283 runs for victory, Afghanistan showcased a brilliant batting performance led by Ibrahim Zadran (87), Rahmat Shah (77 not out), Rahmanullah Gurbaz (65), and skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi (48 not out).
