ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s young fast-bowling sensation Razaullah received a hero’s welcome at Islamabad International Airport as passionate fans gathered to celebrate his remarkable Test debut against England at Edgbaston.

A large number of supporters welcomed the 21-year-old pacer with rose petals and traditional floral garlands, turning his arrival into an emotional celebration. Fans lifted Razaullah onto their shoulders while chanting “Pakistan Zindabad” and “Razaullah Mashwani Zindabad”, with several supporters capturing the memorable moments on their mobile phones.
Razaullah makes immediate impact on test debut
Razaullah announced himself on the international stage with an impressive all-round performance in the third Test against England. The right-arm pacer claimed four wickets in England’s first innings, including the prized dismissal of captain Joe Root, whom he trapped lbw with his fifth delivery in Test cricket.

The youngster then produced a stunning counter-attacking batting display, scoring 81 off just 63 balls in Pakistan’s second innings. His innings included nine sixes, equalling New Zealand all-rounder Tim Southee’s record for the most sixes in a Test debut innings, set in 2008.
His nine sixes also established a new record for the most sixes by a No. 9 batter in a Test innings.

Razaullah further entered Pakistan’s record books by scoring the fastest half-century by a Pakistani batter on Test debut. He reached the milestone in only 43 balls, surpassing Faheem Ashraf’s previous record of 52 balls, set in 2018.

The young pacer also equalled Ben Stokes’ record for the most sixes in a Test innings on English soil, with the England all-rounder having struck nine sixes against Australia at Lord’s in 2023.

Meanwhile, members of Pakistan’s national squad departed Birmingham for their respective hometowns via Doha. Captain Babar Azam, Abdullah Shafique, Azan Awais, Aamer Jamal and several other players, along with members of the team management, arrived in Lahore.
Razaullah’s breakthrough performance has emerged as one of the few positives for Pakistan following their 3-0 Test series defeat to England.
