LONDON: The Prince of Wales will watch Wales play Argentina in the quarter-final of the Rugby World Cup today (Saturday).
William, the patron of the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU), will be cheering on from the stands at the Stade de Marseille, hoping to see Wales progress to the semi-final against either New Zealand or Ireland. The match licks off at 4 p.m.
Having already attended Wales’ opening game against Fiji in Bordeaux last month, where they secured a 32-26 victory, Prince William engaged with key figures such as Rugby World Cup director Gareth Davies, venue director Paul Couet-Lannes, WRU president Gerald Davies, and Fijian President Wiliame Katonivere during the match.
He shared with Gerald Davies his excitement about the World Cup and the impressive matches that have unfolded so far: “I can’t believe another World Cup has come around again. It’s exciting when it all kicks off. There have been some good matches already.”
The Princess of Wales, who serves as the patron of the Rugby Football Union, witnessed England’s triumph over Argentina in Marseille during England’s inaugural match in the tournament. She expressed her excitement, stating that she was “really excited” to be present for the event.
