RAMALLAH: In a strongly worded statement, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned the ongoing Israeli occupation, warning of dire consequences if the political impasse persists. The Ministry underscored the urgent need to empower the Palestinian people with their legitimate right to self-determination and their own state, emphasizing that peace in the region hinged on ending the Israeli occupation of the State of Palestine.

The Ministry decried the daily provocations, attacks, and acts of terrorism by settlers and occupation forces, as well as the frequent raids on Al-Aqsa Mosque and other sacred sites. According to the statement, Israel’s refusal to adhere to international legitimacy resolutions and its disavowal of signed agreements have effectively dismantled the peace process. This has left the Palestinian issue unresolved for 75 years, perpetuating a cycle of suffering and displacement for the Palestinian people, the ministry added.
The Ministry pointed to the international community’s silence in the face of what it described as the “criminal and racist practices” of the Israeli occupation forces. These practices, the Ministry asserted, are the root cause behind the explosive situation and the absence of peace and security in the region. The statement stressed that genuine peace could only be achieved through justice, freedom, and independence for the Palestinian people, including the right of return for refugees, and the full implementation of international legitimacy resolutions.
The Palestinian Ministry called upon the global community to recognize the urgency of the situation and work towards a just resolution. The Ministry reiterated the importance of respecting the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Palestine, and ensuring the Palestinian people’s right to independence and sovereignty.
