Welfare Bureau Rescues over 127 Beggar Children

LAHORE: During the past month, the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CPWB) successfully rescued 127 beggar children in the provincial capital.

CPWB Chairperson Sarah Ahmed stated in a press release on Wednesday that daily child rescue operations have been conducted in the city, leading to a noticeable decrease in child beggars on major streets.

Chairperson Sarah Ahmed added that these rescue operations are ongoing within the jurisdictions of all CPWB district offices in Punjab as they strive to eradicate child begging.

The children were taken into custody from various locations, including Campus Bridge, Gulberg Main Market, Johar Town, Akbar Chowk, Bhatta Chowk, Defence, Barkat Market, Kareem Block Market, Moon Market, MM Alam Road, Data Darbar, and other areas. —APP
