LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) detained the agent inside the airport’s grounds on Wednesday and offloaded three passengers scheduled to go to Athens (the capital of Greece) on illegal visas.
A spokesperson for the FIA disclosed that the individuals in question, namely Muhammad Zubair, Waheed Akhtar, and Asad Daniyal, had reservations on flight number EY242. Their attempt to travel was thwarted due to fake visas in their passports, which also featured fabricated stamps for Athens’s departure and arrival in Pakistan.
Upon the suspects’ identification, the FIA team swiftly apprehended the alleged agent, Muhammad Dildar, who was found within the airport premises. The agent’s mobile phone contained numerous incriminating messages and forged travel documents.
During the preliminary investigation, the suspects confessed that they had paid a sum of 2.5 million rupees each to the agent in exchange for counterfeit cards and stamps.
Subsequently, the suspects have been handed over to the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Lahore for further legal proceedings. —APP
