ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Azerbaijan on Tuesday agreed to strengthen their existing relationship by enhancing cooperation across various sectors, including bilateral trade, energy, and economic fields.
Azerbaijan delegation led by Ambassador to Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov, called on Caretaker Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Muhammad Sami Saeed. The meeting was attended by Tamerlan Khalilov, Deputy Head of Mission of Azerbaijan, Chief of International Trade & Finance, Chief Foreign Aid, and other senior officials from the Planning Ministry.
During the meeting. They acknowledged the positive trajectory of their bilateral ties and expressed their determination to bolster these relations with a focus on multiple areas, such as trade, connectivity, energy, tourism, and information technology, according to a press release.
Pakistan
The Planning Minister emphasized the significance of the long-standing friendship between the two nations, highlighting that Pakistan was among the first countries to recognize Azerbaijan’s independence after its restoration in 1991.
Additionally, the Planning Minister expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan’s support during the 2022 flood, which had a significant impact on Pakistan.
Azerbaijan’s Online Visa Facilitation for Pakistan Boosts Tourism
Khazar Farhadov informed the Planning Minister that since 2022, direct flights between Azerbaijan and Pakistan have significantly contributed to the ongoing bilateral relations between the two countries. He mentioned that approximately 50,000 Pakistani tourists visited Azerbaijan in 2022. Furthermore, the government of Azerbaijan offers Pakistani tourists the convenience of obtaining an online visa within three hours.
The Planning Minister appreciated this gesture and expressed his keenness to explore opportunities for collaboration in the field of tourism.
