PESHAWAR: European Union has announced new project “Improving Migration Management and Migrant Protection” which the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) will implement with an office in Peshawar to be opened soon.
The centre will provide assistance to people from Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Afghanistan.
Main objective of new migration center
The centre is funded by European Union and the main objective is to protect migrants from risks like human trafficking, smuggling, and exploitation.
A new centre in Peshawar would be an addition to the existing centers in Islamabad and Lahore. MRCs provides counselling and guidance to prospective migrants and returnees.

It said that the EU was working on on inequality, unemployment, and climate change which are the root causes of migration.
