KHARTOUM: Sudan’s military staged a large-scale attack on the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) supply routes on Sunday, locals said.
According to Reuters, the almost 150-day war since April 15 has shocked Sudan, destroying infrastructure, worsening hunger, and killing hundreds of civilian populations.
Sudanese Military Launches Attacks to Cut Off RSF ‘s Supply Routes
The military sent volleys of air strikes into Omdurman on Sunday, one day following military sources said it had also deployed a large number of forces on grounds and weaponry in an attempt to cement control of the area. That would cut off a major supply route to the RSF, which provides supplies from the Darfur into Omdurman and then across the Nile into Bahri and Khartoum.
Attacks also continued in some parts of Khartoum, following a local volunteer outlet said as many as 20 people were killed on Saturday in an air strike. Multiple global initiatives to negotiate a settlement to the war, which erupted over plans to participate in the forces, have failed to suppress the war.

Earlier, Sudan’s Army Chief General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan promised to crush the Rapid Support Forces. In a statement, he said that this conflict would only end with the end of the mutiny. General Burhan emerged from the military headquarters for the first time since the war started late last month after fierce fights over the army’s only other stronghold in Khartoum. Reuters reported that the RSF claimed on Sunday it controlled the Armored Corps base in Khartoum.
