ISLAMABAD: A conference on interfaith harmony is being held in Islamabad today under the auspices of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony.
The conference will address issues related to attacks on religious places, desecration of Holy Scriptures and security of minorities as well as inter-religious harmony.
Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Aneeq Ahmed will preside over the event.
The conference is aimed at promoting unity and cooperation among different religious groups, in addition to providing a platform for open dialogue on topics critical to promoting interfaith harmony.
Representatives of all communities will share ideas and suggestions for peaceful coexistence in society.
Earlier, Saudi Arabian Ambassador Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki met Minister of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Aneeq Ahmed in Islamabad on Tuesday.
During the meeting, there was a detailed discussion on arrangements for the upcoming Hajj, bilateral relations and problems facing the Ummah.
Speaking on the occasion, Aneeq Ahmed said that providing more facilities for Pakistani pilgrims is his mission. He said that a national Seerat conference will also be held in Rabi-ul-Awal with religious zeal and fervour.
He said the title of the conference would be Economic Stability of the Country in the Light of the Life of the Holy Prophet [Peace be upon him].
Speaking on the occasion, the Saudi ambassador said that the Muslim World League would soon organize an international conference on the issues of modern times faced by the Muslim Ummah.
