KYIV: Dutch Foreign Minister Wopke Hoekstra has announced to provide Ukraine with thousand chargers for remote demining, Western media reported on Wednesday.
He made the commitment during a meeting with Ukraine’s Deference Minister Oleksiy Reznikov in Kyiv.
Ukrainian defence ministry in a statement said a decision has been made to provide about a thousand portable chargers for remote demining to make ways in mined areas.
Netherlands to Provide Ukraine With Demining Equipment
The development comes at a time when heavily mined Russian defence lines have slowed down a Ukrainian military action to recapture its territory from Russia.
At least 500,000 people from both Russia and Ukraine have lost their lives and tens of thousands are injured in the 18 months war.
On Sunday, Denmark and the Netherlands expressed their willingness to provide Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets that could be handed over to Kyiv by the end of the year.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has termed the procurement of F-16s by Ukraine as a potential “nuclear” threat due to their ability to carry atomic weapons.
Russian defense minister Sergei Shoigu had earlier claimed that the resources of Ukraine’s armed forces have been almost exhausted.
The situation remains highly delicate in the area, with both sides engaged in military actions. The ongoing developments underscore the complex geopolitical landscape in the region.
