MOSCOW: The Justice Ministry of Russia has said that Former Kremlin economic adviser Andrei Illarionov has been declared a foreign agent, Reuters reported on Friday.
According to reports he was added to a registry of foreign agents a designation allied to opponents by the Russian government.

People added to the list are closely monitored and are required to give detailed information about their assets, sources of income, and expenses.
Illarionov resigned from his post in 2005 and moved to the United States. He is very critical of Russia’s war with Ukraine. He has termed the Russian policies of recent years “a catastrophe.”
The Russian Justice Ministry said that Illarionov spread wrong information about Russian officials and their policies.
Illarionov has not yet made any statement on the designation.
