HONG KONG: The Youth Festival kicked off with a grand opening ceremony in Hong Kong on Wednesday, to help young people realize their potential, share experiences through various activities, and enhance their knowledge.

With the theme “Positive Thinking,” the festival plans over 100 encompassing events under the slogan “Ignite Youth Power.”  According to Chan Kwok-ki, Acting Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), the first edition of the Youth Development Blueprint was published last year.

To raise a new generation that loves both the motherland and Hong Kong and has a global viewpoint, an aspirational mindset, and positive thinking, Chan proposed more than 160 specific initiatives and measures supporting youth development.

The event is a major undertaking of the Youth Development Blueprint. The HKSAR government’s secretary for home and youth affairs, Alice Mak, stated that she hopes festival activities will draw young people from Hong Kong and anticipates that 100,000 will participate in these activities. —Xinhua/APP
