SIALKOT: When the 2026 FIFA World Cup kicks off in the United States, Canada and Mexico, Pakistan will once again have a visible presence on football’s biggest stage, not through its national team but through the ball at the centre of the tournament.
The official match ball for the 2026 World Cup, named Trionda, has been manufactured in Sialkot, the Pakistani city known worldwide for producing high-quality sporting goods. The ball has been designed by Adidas for the first World Cup to be jointly hosted by three countries.
Pakistan’s national football team has never qualified for the World Cup, but the country’s manufacturing contribution has become part of the tournament’s modern history.
Sialkot-made footballs have featured in eight of the last 10 FIFA World Cups, reflecting the trust placed in Pakistani craftsmanship by global sports brands.
Sialkot’s football industry has evolved from traditional hand-stitched production to advanced thermo-bonded technology used in modern match balls.
Forward Sports, one of the city’s leading manufacturers and a long-time Adidas partner, says it produces more than 20 million balls annually for global markets.
The company has previously produced balls linked to major tournaments, including the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, the 2018 edition in Russia and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The 2026 ball also reflects the latest technological shift in football. Trionda features a four-panel design and connected-ball technology, including a motion sensor to support refereeing decisions and semi-automated offside systems.
For Pakistan, the achievement is more than a manufacturing contract. It is a symbol of industrial skill, export potential and global relevance in a sport where the country is still seeking success on the pitch.
Sialkot’s sporting goods sector supports thousands of workers and contributes significantly to Pakistan’s export earnings, while helping the country maintain a strong identity in international football production.
As fans across the world prepare for the 2026 World Cup, the journey of every match will again begin with Pakistani craftsmanship, proving that football’s biggest tournament still relies on Sialkot.
