DUBLIN, Ireland: West Indies captain Hayley Matthews won the toss and elected to field first against Pakistan in the fifth match of the Ireland-hosted T20I tri-series at Castle Avenue on Wednesday.
With contrasting momentum and high stakes, both teams are eager to solidify their positions in the standings. West Indies currently sit at the top of the table with eight points, having won two of their three games. Their sole defeat came against hosts Ireland on Monday.
In contrast, Pakistan find themselves at the bottom after losing both opening fixtures, first against West Indies and then against Ireland.
The head-to-head record heavily favors the Caribbean side. In 23 T20I meetings between the two teams, West Indies have secured 19 victories, while Pakistan have managed only four wins.
