WASHINGTON: The United States has expressed desire “to continue to expand its security partnership with Pakistan.”

This was stated by State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller at a press conference here when reminded him of Pakistani Prime Minister’s offer to work with Washington on global peace and regional security.

Earlier, Pakistan’s Prime Minister made this offer earlier this week while replying to a letter from US President Joe Biden, expressing Pakistan’s desire to strengthen bilateral relations.

“We will continue to expand the security partnership between Pakistan and Pakistan,” the spokesperson said, when asked how the US could help Pakistan fight the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other militant organizations.

Responding to a question about an Indian intelligence operator’s attempt to kill a Sikh lawyer in New York, Matthew Miller said: “We have made clear to New Delhi that we want to see them conduct a complete probe and we continue to look forward to the outcomes of that probe.”

Responding to a question regarding the UN aid reaching militant groups in Afghanistan, he said: “We want all of our partners’ safeguard in place to guarantee the aid reaches those who need it.”

Washington, he said, also monitors “all of our aid programmes” to ensure that the help did not “indirectly benefit the Taliban.”
