He said, “No matter what they say, the US controls this war”. He added that the US supplies arms, ammunition, data from satellites, and intelligence data, and they (Washington) are waging a war against Russia. Russian state news agency Tass quoted Sergey Lavrov as saying that talks in Washington over providing long-range capabilities to Ukraine “will not change the spirit of what is going on in Kyiv.”
The remarks of the Russian Foreign Minister come as Ukrainian President Zelensky is likely to visit White House upcoming days. Zelensky’s visit comes as US Congress discusses providing as much as $21 billion in defense and humanitarian help for Ukraine as it fights the Russian attack.
An official told AP on the condition of anonymity that Zelensky will hold talks with President Joe Biden on next Thursday. Zelensky made a wartime trip to the United States in December 2022 and also delivered an emotional address to a joint session of Congress.
At the time, President Zelensky thanked the US for helping to fund the conflict effort and told MPs the money was “not aid” but an “investment” in international security and democracy. Details of Zelensky’s trip next week to the US were not yet being made available.
