ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Tuesday met United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres in Islamabad and discussed a range of regional and global issues concerning peace and security.
The meeting covered key issues including Palestine, Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Afghanistan, counter-terrorism and the future of multilateralism, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Dar briefed Guterres on Pakistan’s positions on Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and the Indus Waters Treaty, reaffirming Islamabad’s call for a just and peaceful resolution of the occupied Kashmir dispute in accordance with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.

DPM/FM briefed the UNSG on Pakistan’s positions on Jammu & Kashmir and the Indus Waters Treaty, reaffirming Pakistan’s call for a just and peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with relevant UNSC resolutions.
DPM/FM highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to promote dialogue and de-escalation, including its facilitation of the Islamabad Talks between the US and Iran. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to dialogue and diplomacy as the most effective means of resolving disputes.
The UNSG appreciated Pakistan’s longstanding contribution to the UN, as well as its diplomatic efforts to promote dialogue, mediation, and de-escalation.

The deputy prime minister also highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to promote dialogue and de-escalation, including its facilitation of the Islamabad Talks between the United States and Iran.

The UN secretary-general appreciated Pakistan’s longstanding contribution to the United Nations and its diplomatic efforts to promote dialogue, mediation and de-escalation.
United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday for the three-day visit at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar.
He will meet Pakistan’s top civilian and military leadership during his three-day official visit to Islamabad, where discussions are expected to focus on regional and international developments, as well as cooperation between Pakistan and the United Nations.
