TEHRAN:  Iran said on Monday that the recent arrests of citizens linked to Britain showed the UK’s “destructive role” in the recent protest demonstrations in the country.

Asked by a journalist to comment on Sunday’s announcement in Tehran of the arrest of people linked to the UK, Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani said: “Several countries, especially the one you mentioned, had a destructive role about the recent developments in Iran. “Their role was totally destructive and incited the riots.”
