WASHINGTON: Former US president Donald Trump pleaded not guilty on Thursday to historic charges of leading a criminal conspiracy that sought to deceive Americans by toppling the 2020 elections, Western media reported on Thursday.

Trump Leaves Court After not Guilty Plea

Trump entered his appeal during a short-term hearing at Washington court where hundreds of his supporters have been convicted for their roles in January 6, 2021 assault on the US Capitol.

“Not guilty,” former president Trump said following judge Moxila Upadhyaya read the charges .

Earlier, Trump arrived in Washington to appear in court on charges of trying to overturn 2020 elections results.  Special security arrangements have been made on the occasion, and police and sniffer dogs have also been deployed outside the court.

Senior Journalists from the international media have gathered in front of the court to cover the important development. The indictment also lists six unnamed co-conspirators who assisted Trump in his attempts to overturn the election results to remain in power.

The indictment alleges that Trump, along with six other unnamed co-conspirators, plotted to overturn the legitimate results of the 2020 presidential election. This marks Trump’s third criminal indictment since March and poses the most serious threat to his potential return to the White House.
