Lahore: Sri Lanka stormed into the ODI tri-series final after dismantling Pakistan for just 110 runs and cruising to an eight-wicket victory at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Tuesday, with 191 balls to spare.

Chasing a modest target of 111, Sri Lanka reached 114-2 in 18.1 overs, completing a dominant victory built on a devastating bowling performance led by Dilshan Madushanka, who claimed five wickets.

Madushanka destroys Pakistan’s batting line-up

Pakistan’s batting collapse began early as Fakhar Zaman departed for five and Maaz Sadaqat managed just eight, leaving the hosts struggling at 23-2. Babar Azam offered brief resistance with 29 off 33 balls, including five boundaries, but his dismissal triggered a further slide.

Pakistan lost their fifth wicket at 61 before slipping to 64-6, with Sri Lanka’s bowlers exploiting the conditions and preventing the hosts from building any meaningful partnerships. Hasan Nawaz scored 17, while captain Shaheen Shah Afridi added 15, including two sixes.

Madushanka finished with impressive figures of 5-34 in 8.3 overs, while Sahan Arachchige took two wickets. Eshan Malinga and Dunith Wellalage claimed one wicket apiece as Pakistan were bowled out for 110 in 25.3 overs.

Kamindu Mendis leads Sri Lanka to comfortable victory

Sri Lanka’s chase was largely untroubled, with Kamindu Mendis producing an unbeaten 62 off 60 balls, striking eight fours and two sixes. Avishka Fernando contributed 16 before falling to Shaheen Shah Afridi, while captain Kusal Mendis scored eight before being dismissed by Arafat Minhas.

Pavan Rathnayake remained unbeaten on 23 off 26 deliveries as Sri Lanka reached 114-2 in 18.1 overs to seal their place in the final.

Shaheen and Minhas claimed one wicket each for Pakistan, but the target proved far too small to defend against a confident Sri Lankan batting line-up.

The defeat exposed Pakistan’s batting frailties and handed Sri Lanka a convincing route into the tri-series final.
