ISLAMABAD: Zimbabwean all-rounder Sikandar Raza has confirmed his availability for the remainder of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10, putting to rest speculation about his withdrawal due to national commitments.
Taking to Instagram, Raza posted a photo in Lahore Qalandars’ kit with the caption “Aa raha hoon In Sha Allah” [I’m coming, God willing], clearing the air following reports that he would miss the rest of the tournament due to Zimbabwe’s upcoming home Test series starting 22 May.
Raza has been a standout performer for Qalandars this season, amassing 228 runs at an average of 45.60 and a strike rate of 162.85, including two half-centuries. With the ball, he has claimed eight wickets at an average of 15.25 and an economy rate of 7.10.
Bringing Shakib Al Hasan
Meanwhile, Lahore Qalandars are also in talks to bring in Bangladesh’s veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan for the remaining matches. According to the Daily Sun, a Qalandars official confirmed interest in Shakib, although final confirmation is still pending.
Shakib, who has previously featured in the PSL for Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings, has been absent from competitive cricket since November last year. The former Bangladesh captain and ex-MP has not returned to his country since the collapse of Sheikh Hasina’s government in a student-led uprising.
PSL 10 is set to resume on 17 May following a brief suspension due to cross-border tensions. Lahore Qalandars, currently fourth on the points table with nine points from nine matches, will resume their campaign against Peshawar Zalmi on 19 May at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
The tournament’s final stages, including the playoffs and final, will be hosted at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, culminating in the grand final on 25 May.
