RIYADH: Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan said on Wednesday that Japan is a key economic partner for Saudi Arabia, adding that the Kingdom is seeking to capitalise on investment and business opportunities in both countries.
He highlighted the importance of strengthening economic ties between Saudi Arabia and Japan and making greater use of the opportunities available in both markets.
“We see promising opportunities to expand cooperation in investment, energy, resources, supply chains, defense, and technology, as well as in the exchange of expertise and capabilities, in a manner that supports our priorities and achieves our shared goals,” Prince Faisal said during a strategic dialogue with his Japanese counterpart, Toshimitsu Motegi.

Prince Faisal said Saudi Arabia would continue to be a reliable partner for Japan across a range of sectors, particularly energy.
He also praised Tokyo’s efforts to enhance economic resilience and support stability in global energy markets and international trade.
The Saudi foreign minister further identified maritime security as a shared priority, emphasising the importance of protecting freedom of navigation along international waterways in accordance with international law.
He stressed the need to ensure that the Strait of Hormuz, the Bab El-Mandeb Strait and other key maritime routes remain open, secure and protected from potential threats.
“The Kingdom continues its efforts to de-escalate and prevent the resurgence of tensions and conflicts by focusing on comprehensive and sustainable diplomatic solutions that address the root causes of instability in our region,” Prince Faisal said.

“We reaffirm that diplomacy, dialogue, and peaceful means remain our priorities, and we value Japan’s role in upholding the principles of international law, its humanitarian and developmental contributions, and its stance in support of stability and peaceful solutions,” he added.
Qatari Prime Minister arrives in Riyadh
Meanwhile, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani arrived in Riyadh on Wednesday.

He was received by Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Waleed Elkhereiji, at the King Khalid International Airport.
