MANAMA: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan held separate talks with his Omani and Qatari counterparts in Manama on Thursday, focusing on bilateral relations, regional developments, and efforts to strengthen security and stability in the Gulf.

During a meeting with Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, held on the sidelines of the joint ministerial meeting between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and the United States, the two ministers reviewed the close ties between Saudi Arabia and Oman and discussed ways to further enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest, the Saudi Foreign Ministry said.

The discussions also covered regional developments, particularly the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, with both sides reviewing diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions and promoting security and stability in the region.

Prince Faisal also met Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, where the two officials discussed bilateral cooperation and the latest regional developments.

The Saudi and Qatari ministers also exchanged views on the US-Iran MoU and its potential implications for regional security, while reaffirming the importance of continued coordination to support stability in the Gulf.

The meetings come less than a week after the United States and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding brokered by Pakistan aimed at ending a conflict that had gripped the Middle East for more than 100 days and impacted several Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) capitals.

The countries later agreed on a 60-day roadmap towards a final agreement following the conclusion of high-level talks in Switzerland mediated by Pakistan and Qatar.
