RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah held separate phone calls with Kuwaiti and Egyptian counterparts and discussed regional developments.
During a call with Kuwaiti Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, both leaders discussed regional developments and related efforts, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Saudi Foreign Minister in a phone call with Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty discussed the latest regional developments and the continuation of bilateral coordination and consultation in this regard, which contributes to strengthening security and stability, the SPA reported.
Saudi Arabia on Wednesday strongly condemned flagrant Iranian attacks on Bahrain and Kuwait terming them a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the Gulf nations.
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, slammed the targeting of Kuwait International Airport and several vital facilities, which resulted in the death of one person and injuries to others.
The Kingdom reiterated its categorical rejection of these assaults that undermine the sovereignty of brotherly Gulf states, constituting a clear violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, and affirms that such violations jeopardise international efforts aimed at restoring security and stability in the region.
The attacks marked one of the more severe tests of the April 8 ceasefire, which has largely held despite sporadic strikes after more than a month of war sparked by the US and Israeli attack on Iran.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said the attacks targeting US bases in Kuwait were launched in response to what it described as an American strike on Qeshm Island in southern Iran.
