RIYADH: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah strongly condemned the recent Iranian attacks targeting Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states, emphasizing that such actions threaten regional stability and violate national sovereignty.
Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Friday that the two leaders discussed the escalating situation during a telephone conversation on Thursday. They jointly denounced the attacks, describing them as a direct violation of the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of GCC nations.
Both leaders stressed that the continued escalation could have far-reaching consequences not only for the Gulf region but also for global stability, particularly given the region’s central role in energy supply and international trade routes.
The condemnation comes amid rapidly rising tensions in the Middle East following a major military offensive launched by the United States and Israel against Iran last Saturday.
In response, Tehran has reportedly carried out retaliatory strikes across parts of the Gulf region, intensifying fears of a broader regional confrontation.
During the call, the Saudi and Kuwaiti crown princes reaffirmed the importance of collective Gulf cooperation in confronting security threats and safeguarding regional stability.
They also underscored the need for unified international efforts to prevent further escalation and protect civilian infrastructure and vital economic corridors.
The Gulf Cooperation Council has repeatedly warned that continued attacks could destabilize the region’s security architecture and disrupt global energy markets, particularly shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz.
The two leaders reiterated their countries’ commitment to defending their territories while supporting diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and restoring regional stability.
