RIYADH: The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque continues to oversee extensive operations to provide both chilled and non-chilled Zamzam water across the Prophet’s Mosque and its surrounding courtyards.

The integrated distribution system includes more than 10,000 Zamzam water dispensers, an average of 12,000 bottled water supplies, and 60 drinking fountains, ensuring convenient and hygienic access for worshippers and visitors, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Thursday.

To maintain the highest standards of safety and quality, the authority carries out a rigorous programme of regular sampling and analysis throughout the entire distribution network.

This comprehensive monitoring process ensures that the Zamzam water system complies with strict international health and technical standards.

Each year, approximately 1,640 tests are conducted on main reservoirs, 5,000 at filling stations, and 740 at drinking fountains and dispensers.

In addition, the authority analyses 13,750 samples from water coolers, 1,850 from containers, 8,068 from transport tankers, and 750 from dedicated storage reservoirs.

All samples undergo continuous laboratory examination, including advanced chemical and microbiological testing, to guarantee the purity and safety of the water supplied.

Through this high-frequency monitoring system, the authority ensures that visitors to the Prophet’s Mosque are supported by a world-class infrastructure focused on health, safety, and environmental care.
