RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed regret over the veto of the draft resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Tuesday.
According to the SPA the resolution was submitted by Algeria to the Security Council on behalf of the Arab nations.
The ministry in a statement, said that there is need, more than ever, to reform the Security Council so that it efficiently carries out its responsibilities in maintaining global peace and security with credibility and without double standards.
Saudi Arabia’s foreign ministry warned of the worsening humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and its surroundings as well as the escalation of military operations that threaten global peace and security.
The statement called for dialogue and a peaceful solution to the issue of Palestinian according to the relevant international resolutions.
