NEW YORK: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah said the Kingdom’s participation in the high-level session of the United Nations General Assembly reflected its commitment to supporting international peace and security, promoting dialogue and mediation, and contributing to efforts to address shared global challenges.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Prince Faisal said that the Kingdom views the proceedings of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, held under the theme “Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations That Delivers for All,” as an opportunity to reaffirm the principles on which international institutions, foremost among them the United Nations, were established.
“These principles include fulfilling their role in promoting security and peace, upholding international law and norms, and strengthening international cooperation in addressing crises.”

The Saudi Foreign Minister added that, in light of current developments in the region, the Kingdom affirms the need to uphold the principles of international law, which underscore respect for the sovereignty of states, the peaceful resolution of disputes, and the safety and freedom of navigation in international waterways, thereby safeguarding the security of all nations and advancing the aspirations of their peoples.
Prince Faisal also noted that, in its participation this year, the Kingdom places great importance on sustainable development, particularly artificial intelligence technologies and their responsible use to develop various sectors, enhance their efficiency, and support innovation, thus delivering tangible benefits to the people, coinciding with the Kingdom’s designation of 2026 as the Year of Artificial Intelligence.
Saudi Arabia’s High-Level Participation in UN General Assembly
Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan on Saturday arrived in New York City, United States, to head the Kingdom’s delegation in the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Saudi Arabia’s participation in this year’s High-Level Week of the General Assembly reflects its commitment to strengthening international cooperation and multilateral action, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Saturday.

The Kingdom’s delegation includes Saudi Ambassador to the US, Princess Reema bint Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Cabinet Member, and Climate Affairs Envoy Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir, Advisor at the Royal Court and Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah, Vice Minister of Health for Planning and Development Eng. Abdulaziz bin Hamad Al-Rumaih; Deputy Minister for International Multilateral Affairs and General Supervisor of the Economic and Development Affairs Deputyship Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Rassi, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the United Nations Ambassador Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al-Wasil and a number of officials.

The Kingdom’s participation will include a series of meetings and bilateral engagements aimed at strengthening coordination and cooperation with brotherly and friendly countries and international organisations.
The engagements will also focus on discussing items on the General Assembly’s agenda, while contributing to efforts to advance security and stability and address key regional and international challenges and issues.
